For over a decade, John Carroll University men’s lacrosse was built on consistency, championships, and winning culture under the leadership of Joe Rautenstrauch.

On Monday, the longtime Blue Streaks head coach announced his resignation, closing one of the most successful eras in program history.

Rautenstrauch leaves John Carroll as the winningest and longest-tenured coach the program has ever seen, compiling a remarkable 111-47 overall record while turning the Blue Streaks into a perennial contender in both the Ohio Athletic Conference and on the national stage.

During his 10-year run, John Carroll captured seven OAC Tournament Championships, three OAC Regular Season titles, and made seven NCAA Tournament appearances. The Blue Streaks also dominated in conference postseason play under Rautenstrauch, posting an impressive 15-1 record in OAC Tournament games.

Beyond the wins and trophies, Rautenstrauch helped elevate the profile of the program nationally. Under his leadership, John Carroll produced six USILA All-Americans, four USA Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans, and 79 all-conference selections.

A two-time OAC Coach of the Year, Rautenstrauch helped establish John Carroll as one of the premier programs in the Midwest and leaves behind a culture that consistently competed for championships year after year.

As the Blue Streaks begin a national search for their next head coach, there is no question that Joe Rautenstrauch’s impact on the program and on DeeThreeLax in Ohio will be felt for years to come.
