Roger Williams University will be searching for a new leader of its men’s lacrosse program after Head Coach Kevin Gould announced his departure following four seasons at the helm. Gould is leaving Bristol, Rhode Island, to return to his alma mater, Bentley University, where he has accepted the head coaching position.

Gould closes his tenure with the Hawks after compiling a 40-32 overall record, including a 21-12 mark in conference play across the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) and the Conference of New England (CNE). During his four seasons, he helped elevate the program with consistent success, individual accolades, and one of the strongest stretches in school history. The high point of Gould’s tenure came during the 2024 campaign when Roger Williams finished 13-6, tying the program record for wins in a single season. The Hawks also went 9-1 at Bayside Field, setting a new program record for home victories while earning the opportunity to host and win a conference quarterfinal before advancing to the CCC Semifinals.

Roger Williams also saw significant individual success under Gould’s leadership.

• Seven Second Team All-Conference honorees
• Eleven Third Team All-Conference selections
• Twenty-one Academic All-Conference selections
• Eight NEILA All-Academic Team selections
• Four NEILA Senior All-Star Game participants
• Four USILA Scholar All-Americans
• One USILA Honorable Mention All-American

Among the program’s most decorated players during Gould’s tenure was defenseman Kyle Zirn, who became Roger Williams’ first USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2025 before earning the distinction again in 2026. Zirn also captured the 2026 CCC Defensive Player of the Year award and finished his career as the program’s all-time leader in caused turnovers. Midfielder Riley Spellman also made his mark under Gould, earning CCC Rookie of the Year honors in 2024 after an impressive freshman campaign.

Before taking over at Roger Williams in 2022, Gould built an extensive coaching resume at the Division I level with stops at Providence, UMass Lowell, Dartmouth, and Bryant. Throughout his career, he has helped develop numerous all-conference performers, All-Americans, and professional players while coordinating some of the nation’s top offensive units.

The move also represents a homecoming for Gould. A Bentley graduate, Gould starred for the Falcons from 2006-10, graduating with a degree in business management. He finished his collegiate career among Bentley’s all-time leaders in points and assists, earned USILA All-America honors as a senior, and later played professionally for the Boston Cannons, helping the franchise capture the 2011 Major League Lacrosse Championship.
