DeeThreeLax NCAA Weekend Recap – May 10–11
The second and third rounds of the DeeThreeLax Tournament delivered everything we hoped for and more: dominant performances, clutch finishes, and major upsets that reshaped the bracket. Here’s your full weekend breakdown from DeeThreeLax:
Saturday – Second Round Highlights
Tufts 15, Rhodes 7
Tufts looked sharp out of the gate, controlling possession and showing why they’re a perennial championship threat. Their ride caused havoc, and Rhodes couldn’t find enough offense to stay close.
Wash. & Lee 20, Scranton 9
W&L’s offense exploded behind crisp ball movement and a fast-paced tempo. Scranton simply couldn’t match the scoring punch as the Generals cruised into Sunday.
Christopher Newport 16, Grove City 14
One of the best games of the round. Grove City battled until the final whistle, but CNU’s late-game execution sealed the deal. This one was a slugfest between two rising programs.
Bowdoin 28, Rivier 3
Total domination. Bowdoin’s offense put on a clinic, lighting up the scoreboard with ease and making a statement to the rest of the bracket.
Wesleyan 16, Babson 7
Wesleyan’s defense frustrated Babson all game long, while their settled offense found the looks they wanted. Clean, composed performance by the Cardinals.
RIT 20, Ohio Northern 3
No surprises here. The Tigers overwhelmed ONU in every phase, showcasing their usual blend of depth and pace.
Rensselaer 14, Williams 10
RPI pulled away late in a tight contest, proving they belong among the top squads. Williams kept it close, but RPI’s midfield made the difference.
St. John Fisher 17, Ohio Wesleyan 16
A thriller from start to finish. Fisher’s offense was electric, and they did just enough to outlast a strong OWU squad in a back-and-forth affair.
Lynchburg 15, Stevenson 6
Statement win by the Hornets. Their defense suffocated Stevenson’s offense while the attack took care of business.
St. Lawrence 10, Middlebury 9
A gritty win for the Saints. They held off a furious Middlebury rally in the fourth quarter to advance in a one-goal nail-biter.
Gettysburg 15, Stevens 9
Gettysburg looked poised and balanced in their win over a tough Stevens team. Their defense stood tall, and the Bullets got scoring from up and down the lineup.
Amherst 12, Endicott 11
One of the day’s tightest games. Amherst survived a tough test from Endicott thanks to some clutch late-game defense and a key goal in the final minutes.
Salisbury 17, St. Mary’s (MD) 5
The Sea Gulls were in control all game, flexing their postseason experience and depth to cruise past a solid St. Mary’s squad.
York (PA) 11, Trinity (CT) 8
York used a strong second half to separate from Trinity. Their defense clamped down late to preserve the win.
Dickinson 8, Denison 7
Another one-goal classic. Dickinson grinded out a hard-fought win behind solid goalie play and a late go-ahead goal.
Cortland 23, Illinois Wesleyan 8
Cortland dominated from start to finish, firing on all cylinders and punching their ticket to the third round in style.
Sunday – Third Round Highlights
Tufts 14, St. Lawrence 8
Tufts once again controlled the tempo and rode their depth to another solid win. St. Lawrence made a push, but Tufts had answers at every turn.
Gettysburg 14, Washington & Lee 12
A back-and-forth battle, but Gettysburg’s late-game poise and transition game helped them pull away. The Bullets are heating up at the right time.
Rensselaer 13, Wesleyan 7
RPI continued their impressive run, shutting down Wesleyan’s offense with a physical defense and smart possessions.
Christopher Newport 22, Lynchburg 10
CNU exploded for a massive offensive day, overwhelming Lynchburg with speed and precision. The Captains are looking like serious contenders.
RIT 17, St. John Fisher 13
Fisher gave RIT all they could handle, but the Tigers’ offensive firepower was too much in the second half. RIT remains on track for another deep run.
Bowdoin 16, Amherst 5
Bowdoin backed up Saturday’s outburst with another dominant effort, this time against a battle-tested Mammoths team. Their offense is clicking at a scary level.
Dickinson 11, Salisbury 10
The upset of the weekend. Dickinson stunned Salisbury with a complete effort, highlighted by strong goaltending and timely goals. The Red Devils knock off a perennial powerhouse.
Cortland 10, York (PA) 6
Cortland’s defense stepped up in a big way, limiting York’s opportunities and capitalizing on transition chances. A big-time win for the Red Dragons.
